Presentation

Until the year 1999 there were many historians and writers that cite the origins of the Baños de Montemayor Spa, the former "Aquae Caprense", also known as Baños de Béjar and Baños de Montemayor in the age under Roman domination and more specifically in republican times, which give it one of the oldest chronologies in the Iberian peninsula.

These circumstances have given an admirable historical base to the Baños de Montemayor Spa and has also given an exceptional place for possible research to bathers, visitors and thermal issue experts.

From 1995 the Baños de Montemayor Spa has been favoured by the building, opposite it, of one of the most modern spas in Europe that, with the great restoration made in the “old” one, it has been obtained a extraordinary thermal complex.

The charm of the “old” building, completely altered, was made using the previous structures and building new lounges for baths, massages, mud, aerosols, pools, etc, in an atmosphere that gives us a memory of the most classical Roman thermal world.

The amazing thermal pools that are in the ground floor, next to the museum, are remarkable. In this lounge there are age-old brick vaults, white marble floors, and it’s ornamented with classical statues on a beautiful shrine and, as they had been transported from the antiquity, this complex is accompanied by the recovered primitive Roman thermae.
